Dr.Serdar Tekgul is Professor of Urology at Hacettepe University in Ankara. Following his urology training at Hacettepe University, he has had his Pediatric Urology training at University of Washington, Children’s Hospital with Dr.Micheal Mitchell in 1994-95. Since then he has limited all of his academic and clinical work to Pediatric Urology. He is currently chairing the section of Pediatric Urology at Hacettepe University, which is one of the accredited training programs for pediatric urology in Europe. His academic interests in different areas of pediatric urology are obstructive uropathy, voiding dysfunction, reflux, and reconstructive surgery of the bladder and childhood urolithiasis. He is actively involved in the administrative work for urology residency training programs. He has chaired the Turkish Board of Urology, Exam Committee 2002-2009. He has been the president of Turkish Pediatric Urology Association in 2007-2011. He is currently the President of Society of Urological Surgery in Turkey. He has more than 75 publications in peer view journals, made many presentations and he has been invited as lecturer in numerous International meetings for Pediatric Urology and has been visiting Professor in several pediatric urology centers around the world. He is a member of both Pediatric Urology Societies in Europe and in U.S. He is a member of Society of Pediatric Urological Surgeons (SPUS).

He has been the organizer of several ESPU courses, 9th biannual ICCS meeting and 21st ESPU annual meeting. He has been one of the assistant editors of Journal of Pediatric Urology. He is in the editorial board of several international journals for urology and Pediatric Urology. He has been a member of the Children’s Committee for the International Consultation for Incontinence (ICI) in 2004 and 2008. He was the committee chair in 2008 in Paris. He is a member of the EAU guidelines committee and chairing the Pediatric Urology group since 2008. He is a faculty member of European School of Urology and has been lecturer in several ESU courses and annual EUREP course. He is board member of ESPU and has acted as the Chairman of Educational Committee for 6 years and the Scientific Secretary of the European Society for Pediatric Urology for 2 years. He is the Secretary of ESPU since spring 2010.
