She was graduated from Ankara Atatürk Anadolu High School in 1987, Ankara University Medical Faculty in 1993. Following residency in Hacettepe University Medical Faculty, Department of Biochemistry (1996-2001), she started her PhD in the same department. During her PhD education, she has worked in University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW),

Department of Cell Biology and was supported by TUBITAK. She completed her PhD in 2005, continued to do reseach in collaboration with UTSW, became assistant professor in 2006 and associate professor in 2010. She is a faculty member in Hacettepe University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Biochemistry and teaching medical biochemistry in Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursery. She is also working in the Core and Emergency Laboratories of Hacettepe University Hospitals. She is the general secretary of Turkish Biochemical Society since 2006. She has worked as the organizing committee member in many national and international meetings. She is a corresponding member in IFCC-Patient Focused Laboratory Medicine.

She was awarded with Loreal- Women in Science prize in 2003 and Hacettepe University Science Award in 2010.

Her research topics are related with new tumor markers, cancer, regulation of telomerase and mitochondrial disorders.
