In order to prevent any delay in monitoring and treatment of inpatients and patients who have applied to the emergency departments of our hospital, specialist medical staff consisting of 4-5 physicians and 12-14 nurses are readily available in the outpatient clinic out of working hours. Therefore, required services of diagnosis and treatment are provided under the supervision and responsibility of academic staff and their assistants. All inpatients are subjected to a detailed pre-operative evaluation. Laboratory tests and radiological examinations addressed at cardiovascular, circulatory, respiratory, renal, liver and bleeding/coagulation systems in particular are performed on a routine basis. If deemed necessary, the departments related to these systems and/or any other previous systemic problem are consulted in order to resolve or minimize the potential problems which could occur in pre-operative or post-operative period. In the pre-operative period, the patient as well as patient relatives are informed on the type and potential progression of the disease, treatment options, expectations and all of the complications that could be encountered during or after the treatment. Verbal and written consent of each patient and patient family are sought in regard to the treatment method.
Patients who are recommended hospitalization do not need to bring any other belongings than pajamas and/or bed gown and personal hygiene items (toothbrush, toothpaste, shaver, bath towel, etc.). Patients are strongly advised to avoid having any belonging irrelevant to their health and treatment, extra cash or jewelry with them. Cleaning and maintenance of the ward and the rooms are carried out a few times a day and bed sheets are changed regularly. Dietary arrangements are calculated in terms of required calories and the content of carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamin and minerals customized individually for the patient nutrition in line with the adopted treatment and the frequency of meals is regulated as necessary by specialist dieticians. The nutrition of patients who will undergo a surgery under general anesthesia is restricted for the final 8-10 hours before the surgery.
